OBJECTIVES
Discover the joy of fiber preparation, from carding to drop spindle spinning, to create your own unique yarns for textile projects.

INSTRUCTOR
Marie-Pierre Chabot from Mapi Créations

COURSE CONTENT:

• Raw fiber preparation

• Various carding techniques (combs, hand cards, blending board, drum carder)

• Transforming fiber for spinning (rolags, artistic batts)

• Spinning with a drop spindle using learned techniques

• How to prepare fibers for spinning (hand carding and/or small brush)

• How to ply your yarn on the spindle

INCLUDED
150g of fiber
A spindle and carding tools will be provided for the workshop duration.

REQUIRED SKILLS
No prior experience necessary

WHAT TO BRING
Notebook and pencil
Apron
Spindle and carding tools if you already have them

GOOD TO KNOW
A kitchenette is available (fridge, microwave, and unlimited coffee).

CANCELLATION POLICY
Due to limited spots, refunds are not available. However, if you cannot attend, you may transfer your spot to someone else. If the workshop is canceled due to low enrollment, you can choose a refund or reschedule.

ABOUT MARIE-PIERRE
Marie-Pierre fell in love with spinning in 2019. Originally from Bolivia, she naturally started working with alpaca fibers. Over time, she expanded her expertise to include sheep’s wool. She handles every step of fiber transformation—from cleaning and carding to dyeing and producing artistic batts for spinning and unique yarns for crochet, knitting, and weaving. Most fibers come from local Canadian farms. She is passionate about sharing and preserving the art of hand spinning.
