DESCRIPTION
Learn to weave a rug using a woven technique known as the weft-faced. The loom will have been previously mounted with a warp. Each participant will leave with their own designed and handwoven wool rug!During this two-day introductory workshop, you will work on floor looms and explore twill structures. As featured in the December 2026 issue of Fibre magazine, you will weave the Mana wool rug in a variety of colors. The class will be led by Joanie, who will guide you throughout the entire weaving process. Once your rug is removed from the loom, you will also learn the essential finishing techniques to achieve a clean and professional result.

SKILLS REQUIRED
Previous experience on 4 shafts loom is required.

- A kitchenette is available (fridge, microwave and unlimited coffee).
- The workshop will be given in French with help for English participants

CANCELLATION POLICY
Our workshops are non-refundable. They require significant time and preparation, and we organize all materials in advance to offer participants the best possible experience.
However, registrations are fully transferable at no extra cost. We are happy to welcome a friend or family member in your place. Just contact us to make the necessary arrangements.
If a workshop must be cancelled due to low registration or specific restrictions, a full refund will be issued.
ABOUT JOANIE
Graduate inAgricultural Production from École d'agriculture from Nicolet (2016) and inTextile Construction from the Montreal Centre for Contemporary Textiles (2022),she was awarded the Prix Coup de Coeur by the Institut des Métiers d'art in2022. Passionate about traditional textile skills such as weaving and natural dyeing, she dedicates a part of her year to the culture of dye plants and to technical research on her loom.
