OBJECTIVE

This workshop will introduce you to drop spindle spinning, so you can spin your own yarns. Fiber will be provided for this workshop.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

• how to spin on a hanging spindle using the techniques learned
• how to prepare fibers for spinning (hand carding and/or small brush)
• how to double your spindle yarn

• Handling of hanging spindle or spinning wheel

ABOUT MARIE-PIERRE

Marie-Pierre fell in love with the art of spinning in 2019. Being from Bolivia, it was natural to turn to alpaca to learn how to work with fibers. Over time, she expanded her knowledge to include sheep fiber. Today, she is committed to every stage of the fiber's transformation, from cleaning, carding and dyeing to the production of the finished product: an artistic tablecloth for spinning, and unique artistic yarns for crocheting, knitting and weaving. Most of the fibers she uses come from local Canadian farms. She wants to share and pass on the art of hand-spinning to help keep it alive.
