COURSE DESCRIPTION

In this workshop, you will weave a baby alpaca scarf on a rigid heddle loom. The class covers the essential techniques needed to gain confidence and continue weaving on your own. 

The set up of a loom requires hours. Students will not being weaving until Saturday afternoon and will continue on Sunday.

COURSE CONTENT

You’ll leave the workshop with a beautiful scarf in the color of your choice and a solid understanding of basic weaving terminology. Participants will also learn how to:

  • Choose appropriate fibers for warp and weft

  • Warp the loom

  • Weave using the pick-up stick technique

  • Apply tips and tricks for successful weaving

  • Troubleshoot common issues

  • Create fringes and fix mistakes

  • Finish the project

All materials are included. Instructional booklet with photos and instructions covering topics in class.

PREREQUISITES

No previous weaving experience required.

WHAT TO BRING

Notebook and pen.
