FLOOR LOOM WEAVING CLASS
This introductory floor loom weaving class in Montreal is designed for beginners who want to learn how to weave and confidently set up a floor loom.

ABOUT THE CLASS
This introductory floor loom weaving class in Montreal is designed to teach the fundamentals of weaving and how to warp and set up a floor loom. By the end of the workshop, participants will have gained the essential skills and knowledge needed to continue exploring weaving independently.
On the second day, participants will have time to weave samples once their looms are dressed. The amount of weaving time will depend on each participant’s pace during the loom setup process.
Class size is intentionally kept small to create an environment that encourages learning, discussion and knowledge sharing, while allowing for more personalized instruction and support.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
No previous weaving experience is required. This class is suitable for beginners who would like to learn the fundamentals of weaving on a floor loom.
LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION
The class is taught in French, with assistance available for English-speaking participants.

WHAT TO BRING
Please bring a notebook and pencil.
Participants may choose to bring their own floor loom or use one of the studio looms.
GOOD TO KNOW
A kitchenette is available for participants, with a refrigerator, microwave and complimentary coffee.
Before the workshop, participants will receive an email reminder with all the practical information needed for the class.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Due to our small class sizes, workshop registrations are non-refundable.
If you are unable to attend for any reason, your registration may be transferred to another person at no additional cost. Simply let us know in advance.
If Irène Textile needs to cancel the workshop due to low enrolment or other circumstances, you will receive a full refund or have the option to transfer your registration to a future date.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Yde Bouchard is the founder of Irène Textile. Her background in visual arts is complemented by textile studies and specialized training, including studies at the Centre des textiles contemporains de Montréal (CTCM).
She has completed Level 3 of the Master Weaver Program at Olds College in Alberta and continues to deepen her knowledge of weaving through advanced study and practice.
Yde is also a member of the Tisserins de Laval, the Association des tisserandes du Québec and the Guild of Canadian Weavers.
