Parkland Wool Blanket – Double Weave Workshop

Explore the possibilities of double weave while creating your own blanket with Canadian Parkland wool during this immersive three-day weaving workshop in Montreal.

Double weave allows two layers of fabric to be woven simultaneously, making it possible to create a blanket wider than the weaving width of the loom. Through this project, you will explore the structure while learning how fibre, sett, and weaving technique influence the finished cloth.

You will work with Canadian Parkland wool, a beautifully textured wool with a natural character that is especially well suited to blanket weaving.

The looms will be ready to weave when you arrive, allowing you to focus on learning the technique and weaving your blanket.

All materials are included.

This workshop is suitable for beginners and weavers with basic floor loom experience who are ready to expand their weaving techniques.

The looms will already be warped, so warping is not part of this workshop.

Language

The workshop will be taught primarily in French, with explanations and assistance available in English as needed.

About Parkland Wool

Developed by Traceable Textiles in Alberta, Parkland wool is part of an approach that values Canadian wool and local fibre processing.

Working with small local farms, Traceable Textiles selects and prepares wool that is then processed in Canada. The result is a wool with beautiful texture and natural character, particularly well suited to woven blankets and throws.

About your Instructor

Yde is a weaver, and founder of Irène Textile, a weaving studio, shop, and school in Montreal.

She is continuing her studies through the Olds College Master Weaver Program, with a focus on weave structures, fibres, colour, and textile design. Her teaching approach emphasizes understanding the principles behind woven cloth while helping weavers develop confidence and independence at the loom.

Due to the small class size, we are unable to offer refunds for workshops. However, if you are no longer able to attend, your registration is fully transferable at no extra cost — just let us know in advance. If we must cancel a workshop (due to low enrollment or other circumstances), you will receive a full refund or have the option to reschedule for a later date.
