INTRO TO WEAVING ON A RIGID HEDDLE LOOM - BABY ALPACA SCARF

Learn the fundamentals of rigid heddle weaving while creating a soft baby alpaca scarf from start to finish during this hands-on two-day workshop in Montreal.

You will learn how to prepare your warp, warp and set up your loom, weave your scarf, correct common mistakes, and complete the finishing steps.

Working with beautiful baby alpaca yarn, you will choose from a selection of colours to create a scarf that reflects your personal style.

By the end of the workshop, you will leave with your handwoven scarf and the fundamental skills needed to approach your next rigid heddle weaving project with greater confidence and independence.

What You Will Learn


During the workshop, we will cover:

  • warping a rigid heddle loom;
  • techniques for creating an even, balanced weave;
  • correct common weaving problems;
  • how to create and finish the fringe;
  • wet finishing.

Skill Level

No previous weaving experience is required. This workshop is designed for beginners who want to learn the complete process of creating a project on a rigid heddle loom.

Saturday — 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Sunday — 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Included

All materials and the use of a rigid heddle loom for the duration of the workshop are included.

You will work with baby alpaca yarn and choose from a selection of colours for your scarf.

About Your Instructor

Yde is a weaver, and founder of Irène Textile, a weaving studio, shop, and school in Montreal.

She is continuing her studies through the Old's College Master Weaver Program, with a focus on weave structures, fibres, colour, and textile design. Her teaching approach emphasizes practical learning and helping weavers develop confidence and independence at the loom.

Workshop registrations are non-refundable due to the small class size.

If you are unable to attend, your registration may be transferred to another person at no additional charge with advance notice.

If Irène Textile cancels the workshop, you will receive a full refund or may transfer your registration to a future date.
